Meet Tamara
Hi, I’m Tamara, a counseling intern and graduate student at Central Michigan University, originally from Flint, Michigan. Growing up there taught me about resilience, survival, and the strength of community. I know how hard it can be to ask for help, especially when you’re used to carrying everything alone, and I strive to make therapy a safe, supportive space centered on you.
I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals from marginalized communities and those impacted by systemic oppression or generational trauma. As someone who shares these lived experiences, I understand how powerful it is to feel truly seen and understood.
My journey into counseling was shaped by personal loss, having lost my father to suicide, which inspired my commitment to mental health. I aim to help clients build emotional resilience, healthy coping skills, and practical tools for navigating life’s challenges.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, blending person-centered and solution-focused techniques to meet you where you are. Whether you're facing anxiety, trauma, grief, or feeling overwhelmed, I’m here to walk alongside you in your healing.
